About our fleet

All of our vessels are able to sail. Generally we recommend sailing the stretch of river from Westminster to Greenwich which incorporates most of the key London sights. However, we can go further up river if desired although tide dependant past Westminster Bridge. All of our vessels can travel to Putney and the Silver Darling can go as far as Hampton Court. Further down river is an option if desired and we frequently travel to ExCeL London. The Silver Sturgeon is also fantastic as a static venue at your chosen pier, subject to availability.
Absolutely. We have access to most central London piers and can schedule call-in’s, subject to availability, to suit your requirements.

The Thames is a tidal river so this is not a problem we usually encounter, compared with vessels operating at sea. In addition the Silver Sturgeon is very large and wide which means any typical ‘rocking motion’ from side to side is minimal, even when another vessel passes by. Most guests don’t even realise we’ve left the pier until they see the external scenery changing.

Yes we can, both on the top deck and on the dancefloor. There are restrictions relating to size and weight of the vehicle but our team will be able to discuss all possibilities and the logistics with you.

Yes, there are outside decks on all of our vessels where guests are able to smoke freely. These decks are an intrinsic part of the vessel so you won’t lose guests to a designated smoking area far removed from the rest of the event, as you might in many other venues.

Yes. Our vessels are incredibly luxurious and designed to cater for events whether snow, rain or glorious sunshine!

The dress code for your guests will be down to your wishes but we love to be the host of a special and glamorous occasion and many guests will choose to dress up, including wearing heels!

Feasting

Absolutely. We cater for a full range of dietary requirements and we just ask that you advise us of these as early as possible.

We pride ourselves on making all food in our galley on the Silver Sturgeon. Everything is made from scratch except for bread and ice-cream, which we buy in from the highest quality suppliers.

The family and entire team at Woods’ Silver Fleet are incredibly passionate about serving fabulous food. Our menus have been devised with much thought and creativity and we are confident that there is an option for most occasions and tastes. Our Head Chef is very happy to discuss, create and tailor a bespoke menu just for your event if for any reason you are wanting something just a little bit different. However, if we are not able to fulfil your specific catering needs, for example kosher catering, then depending on the date required, we are happy to discuss a dry hire option to allow you to bring in a preferred caterer.

Our house selection remain competitively priced. Up until March 2020 our house wine is priced at £20.50 per bottle, house Champagne at £46.50 per bottle.

We are rated with 5 stars, which is the highest rating possible.

Yes. All of our lamb is halal and we can source halal beef with sufficient notice. All of our meat is from the Royal accredited butcher, Aubrey Allen.

Events

Once your event is contracted our sales team will hand your details over to the planning team, with a full brief of discussions to date. The planner will remain your point of contact right up until the day of the event when there will be a seamless handover to the operations team, who will ensure your event is delivered to perfection.

Both the Silver Sturgeon and Silver Barracuda can accommodate a band or DJ and we work with a number of suppliers who have a wide range of options available. However, if for any reason you would prefer to bring in your own DJ or band, we are perfectly happy for this to happen.

Our vessels are able to sail in all weather, except for extreme fog, when for health and safety reasons we may not be able to depart from a pier.

If you know ahead of the day that guests need to disembark during your event, please advise us so we can discuss scheduling a ‘call in’ at an appropriate pier. However, if a guest needs to unexpectedly disembark, we are never generally more than a few minutes away from a pier, particularly in an emergency. Please note, a charge may apply to call in to the pier.

A service charge is neither added or expected.

There are a range of opportunities for branding on our vessels and on the quay. We would suggest that you talk to the sales and planning teams to discuss in more detail.

If clients have no specific expectations, we set out our daytime charters as 3 hours and our evening charters as 4 hours on the Silver Sturgeon and the Silver Barracuda. Further hours may be added according to your needs and those of the overall event. Our sales and events team will happily tailor the proposal accordingly.

Our planning team have collated a fabulous list of suppliers from the many events we have hosted over the years; we highly recommend that you consider using them and the majority can be found within your initial proposal. However, if you have a preferred supplier then we are also very happy for them to come on board for your event.

Yes! We can be a static VIP venue directly outside in the dock or we can transport your guests to central London in style.
