Whether your journey into London is for business or pleasure, Thames Clippers provide a fast, frequent and competitively priced way of taking you through the heart of the city in a relaxed and comfortable environment.
Since being established in 1999, Thames Clippers now operates a fleet of twelve luxury high speed catamarans. All boats have been commissioned and named by Managing Director Sean Collins. "I decided to go for powerful names with a meteorological resonance and it's wonderful how the boats have really grown into them," explains Sean. "I never really considered going down another route. After all, these high speed vessels are the product of slick engineering and incredible craftsmanship - they deserve a big name." Chairman Alan Woods adds, "It is maritime tradition to give a fleet connected names. Ours are strong, memorable and have a positive impact on the crew and passengers...I like to think that is exactly how we are as a company".
Instantly recognisable by its Damien Hirst livery, the Hurricane Clipper was one of the first of the new catamarans in the fleet. It was built in 2001 by the Cannes based Australian company NQEA. A number of famous politicians have travelled onboard including Tony Blair, Ken Livingston, John Prescott and ex-Australian Prime Minister John Howard. Other boats in the Thames Clipper fleet include; The Meteor, Aurora, Monsoon, Cyclone, Tornado, Typhoon, Sun, Moon, Storm, Sky, Star, Twinstar and the Thames Flyer.
